What specifically makes the blades on shaving razors dull so quickly?
The blades on shaving razors, whether it be Disposable or reusable, dull after just a few shaves. I Can't figure Out what it is about Skin or hair that can Make such Sharp Metal dull so quickly.
Be scientific please. Also, is there anything that can be done to keep them From becoming dull?
The act of Cutting the hair will dull the Razor blades. The Use of shaving cream helps to soften the skin and hair to make it easier for the razor to Cut. Also, the More Coarse the hair, the quicker the blades will dull.
I use Gillette Mach 3 Turbo blades. I go through One 4 Pack in about 2 months. (I shave every Other Day, Clean cut one day, scruffy the next). The Turbo blades have a lubricant in them that help the blades last longer. I've noticed that once that lubricant is gone, the Blade gets dull Real quick and I have to replace it with a new blade. Yeah, they're expensive (as my wife reminds me everytime I Pick up a new pack), but I haven't found another Set of disposable razors that Work Well for me and my Rough beard.
