What cat breed is generally the Most friendly?
I have Two cats that I rescued From shelters (shorthair Mix and siamese mix). I love them both to Pieces, but they're both incredibly mean. They bite and scratch and hiss at everything and they HATE to be picked up.
I'm thinking about getting another cat (Like from a cat breeder this Time) and I want to get a friendly cat that likes to be Held. Any suggestions?
No, I don't think that a cat has to Come from a breeder to be friendly. I just wanted to try something different. I've met some cats from shelters that are really sweet.
Main Coons are Very friendly. Their Coat Can Take a Bit to maintain since they have so Many layers and as Well if you live in a really Warm climate they might Not be too happy. Rag dolls are very cuddly, they aren't called rag dolls for no reason, they almost literally go limp when you Pick them up. They have a Medium Length coat and so they'd be easier to maintain grooming Wise. Siamese can be very friendly but tend to yowl a Lot.
Your Other two cats will take a while to warm up to you, I'm not sure How Long you've had them for, but it can also just depend on the cat. When you approach a cat to pet it, you don't want to just Walk up to it abruptly like you could with dogs (at least with dogs that aren't hostile), I like to squat Down to their Level, maybe kneeling on One Knee, and then Hold Out my Hand slowly and let them come and sniff it themselves, sometimes approaching them slowly. Earn their trust slowly and try not to pet their bellies if they are hostile towards you just when you try to pet them initially because that's the most vulnerable Part of their Body and much trust has to be built for a cat to feel like you're not going to hurt it like a predator or enemy would
