Can someone help me Fix my Home Made clay?
I made some clay today (or I tried to) by following a Real Easy recipie; 1 cup h20, 1cup salt, 1 cup flour. As Per the Instructions I Mixed it constantly Over low Heat until it thickened. Everything was Great until I was told to Wrap a Wet cloth around the clay until it cooled. The wet cloth turned my clay into sticky mashed potatoes. So I added More flour, then more salt, then I added cornstarch, and Water. Well now that I've Polished Off a 5lb Bag of flour and my clay seems even worse so I Turn to you for help. is there a Way to at the Very least Make it unsticky enough to Work with? Gosh I hate to throw it away. Is there anything that can be done?
I've made clay so Many times with my kids to make xmas ornaments. This One Works Best. BTW-sorry but Your going to have to Trash it if it didn't Set Right. SORRY! Good luck!!
CLAY THAT HARDENS
4 cups All-Purpose flour
1 cup salt
1 1/2 cups water
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix the flour, salt and water. Knead dough until Smooth. Roll Out dough and Cut into desired shapes. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 Hour. Once cool Paint with Colors, if desired.
PLAYDOUGH (STAYS Soft)
4 cups flour
1 cup salt
4 cups water
4 tablespoons Oil
1/2 cup cream of tartar
Mix all ingredients in a sauce Pan. Cook and stir over low/Medium heat until play dough is completely formed and no longer sticky. Allow to cool Slightly before storing in an Air Tight container or Zip Lock bag.
Variations:
Add one Package of unsweetened powdered Kool-Aid to your playdough to give it a great smell. (Thanks to James Slaughter for this variation).
