How do I Fix a Hole in my Car caused by a screwdriver?
I have a 2000 camaro and recently someone tried to steal it. It looks Like they Used a screwdriver to put a hole Under the keyhole. It is about an Inch and it looks pretty bad. Can anybody Tell me a Good Way to fix it or somewhere to go. Also an estimate of what they would charge me to fix it somewhere else.
Well, there are several things you can do to fix it. From "Best" to worst they are:
1) dissasemble the Door handle, Bend the sides of the hole Flat and Weld a Piece of Steel Over it. Grind Flush, prime and repaint the door. Reassemble handle.
2) Like 1, but instead of Welding, Use a Fiberglass Patch and bondo.
3) slap a piece of Duct Tape over the hole to keep the Rain Out and move on.
I'd probably do 3 until I had Time for 2, since the hole's Small. Whatever you do, don't leave it in primer; primer is porous and Water will get through and rust Your door.
I would guess a Body Shop will probably charge 200-400 dollars.
